Recently during an open house a couple came in who I had run into in the past at other open houses. We discussed the progress they were making in preparing their home for sale. After a bit of dialog, the wife announced she wanted to walk through the home, and the husband said he didn’t and asked to use the restroom. So, 20 minutes later the husband is STILL IN THE RESTROOM. He comes out and asks me for a plunger. YES, I SAID PLUNGER! This home is vacant so my search for a plunger was unsuccessful. Imagine that… The couple left shortly after he blew up the bathroom. Of course I was mortified, held my breath and opened the door to spray & close the lid.. UGH GROSS! As I was walking out of the bathroom, a very young couple with 4 very active children walked in the door. I went to greet them, the kids were running around everywhere! I turned around and the little boy was in “the bathroom” and hit the flush button, and announces to everyone “there’s a floater in here”. At this point, I’m ten shades of red as I’m sure they think I did it. The water stops THANK GOD, at the brim. The little boy shuts the powder room and runs up the steps and disappears. I go to open the door to the bathroom only to realized he locked the door. I tried to get the door open without much luck. The next guest came in shortly after the children left and walked in to look at me with disgust, like they thought I was responsible for the delightful odor in the house. Of course we got the plumbing taken care of.
Moral of the story: Sometimes you have to throw your hands up laugh and chaulk it up to a crappy day! Just kidding! Humor can get you through just about anything. I hope this post made you laugh, just another day in the life of a forty-something Realtor. Have a fantastic day!
