As I sipped my coffee this morning, it hit me that today is November 1st 2017, already. Where did 2017 go? This month typically symbolizes the beginning of the holiday season for me. Pumpkins, comfort food, crisp weather, beautifully colored leaves everywhere and giving thanks.
As I thought about what November reminded me of this year, my heart began to sink. This November, makes a year since my Nanny passed. This November my brother won’t celebrate his 45th birthday. This will be my first Thanksgiving without my “lol bro”. The sadness started, but then I thought, they say happiness is a choice so I’m going to challenge myself to find joy, somehow.
So, I am challenging myself to write about something I’m thankful for each day of November. Every day, I will attempt to shift my focus on gratitude or a blessing. I do this in honor of my little brother Troy B. Dixon, who always tried to make everyone laugh to lighten their load in times of stress or trouble. I love you Troy!
