Six months ago, we started the journey of trying to purchase a house across the street from my parents. It wasn’t going to be a traditional sale, so we had to go the short-sale route.
After months of trying, the bank refused to accept our short-sale offer, and the house was headed toward an inevitable foreclosure. About a month ago, it was confirmed: we weren’t going to be able to buy the house.
Every corner we turned, the answer was no, no, and no.

We are a military family and received active-duty orders from Norfolk to Guam.
